A new fast-food chain is touching down in Dallas, and it’s totally out of this world.
CosMc's, McDonald's space-themed spinoff concept that focuses on drinks, breakfast items, and snacks, landed in Texas on March 19. It’s the second-ever CosMc's, opening just a few months after the first was established in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The new location comes with two new beverage additions: the Beach Protein Frappe, made of ice, banana-flambe syrup, and a banana-flavored protein frappe base, and the Melon Herb Chiller, a lemon and watermelon mint pinwheel base poured over ice.
“Inspired by nostalgia and powered by a menu of bold, refreshing beverages and tasty treats, CosMc’s is landing earthside for us humans to enjoy,” McDonald’s said in a press release, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Texans seem to be running the gamut with their reactions: from excited to disappointed to confused. In the most upvoted comment on a Reddit thread about the new location, a user said it was “interesting” but that they weren’t sure there was an “increasingly competitive drive through beverage space.” They were quickly proved wrong.
“I don’t do Starbucks but I can’t imagine any of their customers saying ‘man I’m so excited for a rebranded McDonald’s coffee.’ Would love to see the studies that led them to this conclusion,” the user posted, before writing an update. “Edit: The people have spoken. There’s definitely interest in this.”
Other social media users described their experience in trying it for themselves, with one saying there was “a pretty long line,” while another said they’re excited that Dallas is getting a look at the “experimental” restaurant before others. But not everyone feels the same.

“I saw the menu and didn’t care for it. Don’t get the hype,” one Redditer wrote. “You can get their drinks anywhere else and for the boba, I rather go to a real boba place."
Many of the complaints from folks online are more pointed toward fast food in general, instead of comments catered to CosMc's. But it seems that the response has been positive enough that McDonald's is going to continue its nostalgia-fueled attempt at a futuristic restaurant alternative: The chain has plans to open nearly a dozen more CosMc’s pilot locations by the end of the year, according to USA Today—but we don’t know exactly where they'll end up.
The CosMc's menu includes Signature Galactic Boosts drinks, Iced Teas and Lemonades, Slushes and Frappes, Brews (coffees and lattes, teas, and hot chocolate, etc.), McMuffins and McFlurries, breakfast sandwiches, snacks like hash brown and pretzel bites, baked goods, and soft serve ice cream treats.
