The Vicks 3-in-1 Sleepy Time Humidifier is part humidifier, part essential oil diffuser, and part nightlight. Although the small design and color-changing nightlight makes this a kid-friendly pick, we think it's one of the best options for people of every age.

In our tests, this humidifier quickly increased room humidity despite the smaller, 0.6-gallon capacity. Its small size—about 8 inches tall and wide—also made it easy to place on a nightstand or dresser. The tank was easy to set up right out of the box, and we thought the features like the nightlight and diffuser were fun and helpful. The diffuser works with standard essential oils or the Vicks VapoPads, perfect for some relief when you’re feeling under the weather.

On the low setting, we only saw a quarter of the tank’s capacity decrease over eight hours. But on high, the water depleted completely within the same time period. While this humidifier is pretty quiet, it wasn’t the quietest of those we tested. However, for people who prefer some white noise when sleeping, this could be a great choice.

How It Tested Over Six Months

In just a few minutes of running the unit, we found a noticeable difference in the room’s humidity. In our tests, this humidifier used up only about 2 to 2.5 cups of water on the low setting, although we didn’t see or feel much change in humidity level at this setting. This device worked best on high. On the high setting, it used up only around 5 cups (and it holds about 16 cups) after running eight hours. In addition to being pretty water-efficient, we liked the unit’s top-fill design, making it easy to refill with more water and add essential oil drops.

While we tested many humidifiers that ran without distracting noises, the Crane Warm and Cool Mist Humidifier was one of the quietest. This is a larger humidifier than the others we ranked as the options for bedrooms, but it barely makes a peep. We found that on low, the humidifier was nearly silent. On the highest setting, it sounded similar to the quiet bubbling of an aquarium.

This is one humidifier with all of the bells and whistles, including a diffuser, a timer, a nightlight, cool and warm mist options, a remote control, and a hygrometer to read the humidity levels in the room. This humidifier works best for a larger bedroom since it services rooms up to 500 square feet. If you keep it in a smaller bedroom, you may want to keep the setting turned down lower. Just keep an eye on the hygrometer for guidance.
