We’ve been using Sherwin-Williams to bring color into our homes for decades. Choosing your palette is one of the most important (and intimidating) parts of designing a space—and the paint brand just made the process a whole lot easier.
As artificial intelligence makes its way into interiors, creating a professional-looking home is becoming more and more accessible. The Sherwin-Williams Color Expert AI app is one of the newest developments, designed to make choosing the right paint color more effortless (especially for those of us who aren’t color experts ourselves).
“Homeowners who love design and doing their own projects tend to struggle when it comes to choosing the perfect paint color,” Sue Wadden, the Sherwin-Williams director of color marketing, said in a press release. “On average, they consult 10+ touchpoints before committing to a color, indicating how overwhelming this process can be for them. This revolutionary color technology will give them the confidence they need by seamlessly allowing them to find the right color without the stress they normally go through."
All you have to do it take a photo of the room you're considering painting. The app then uses "innovative and groundbreaking AI color technology to detect colors already present" in key elements, like furniture and art, and it creates a custom color palette from its thousands of selections.

You'll get a range of recommendations, so you don't have to worry about your hues complementing each other. Once the app has given you some ideas, you can try them out by generating a visual for any of the new colors on your walls. If you like one of the picks, you can save the photo. It also provides you with the swatch name and a description.
Once you head to the store to pick up your color choice, you have all the information right there on your phone. Plus, you can order color chips and Peel and Stick samples directly from the app if you want to see them for yourself before you purchase. The app is free to use, and it's already available to download on your app stores.
