“So here’s a quick cleaning tip I use after making a smoothie,” the creator said in his video. “First, just give [your blender] a quick rinse.”
After rising, he shows himself filling it up with a bit of water and a squeeze of Dawn dish soap (you can obviously use whatever you have on hand). Then he simply puts the lid back on the blender, turns it on, and lets it pulse for a bit. The suds fill up the blender—and within just a few seconds, your blender has cleaned itself.
“Give it a quick rinse, and good to go,” @cleanthatup said, finishing up the job. The tip works for any kind of blender—from your Vitimix to portable blenders.
While some commenters pointed out that lots of people consider knowing how to make your blender clean itself common knowledge, others found it a clever game changer.
“I haven’t used my blender in a couple [of] years because I hate cleaning it so much,” one user commented. “WOW. I’m [definitely] doing this, but I’m mad I didn’t think of it myself,” another said.
Some users shared further blender-cleaning tips: One noted that they “throw a few ice cubes in for scrubbing and blade sharpening," and another reminded everyone to clean the plastic ring at the top to prevent mold from growing.
But in one response, this user summed it all up: “I prefer to leave it in the sink until it crusts over and then struggle to wash it in a panic the next morning.”
